The GeNcyclopedia covers all keywords and operators of the GeN language. They are sorted by category.
Notes:
/ / - Indicates multiple notes being played. Can be either at the same time or consecutively.
, - A symbol dividing two notes, noting that they be played separately. Also used for separating dynamic levels, the position indicating which dynamic level corresponds to which note.
Rhythms:
c: - Common time
c+: - Cut time
| | - A measure
|| || - A repeated measure
(X) - A rest, X being the duration (1 = quarter beat). Default value 4.
; - Symbolizes a dot after the note, extending its length to three halves of its original value.
--X*Y* - Represents a tuplet, X being the value of the note and Y being the value of the tuplet (e.g. triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets).
Multiple Parts:
$ - Separation between two parts using the one-bar method.
Before the Bar:
d=X - Indicates tempo, X being the BPM. Located after the phrase marking and before the key signature.
G\ - Treble clef
F\ - Bass clef
C\ - Tenor clef
' ' - Indicates how the piece is played. Located before the tempo
Dynamics:
< - An accent.
^ - A marcato.
_ - A legato.
. - A staccato.
(^) - A fermata.
(<) - A crescendo mark.
(>) - A decrescendo mark.
~ ~ - A slur.
~~ ~~ - A glissando.
{}, {] or [] - Represents a scale from the bottom note to the top note (syntax: bottom note,top note). {} means that the bottom and the top note are not included in the scale, [} means that the top note but note the bottom note is, {] means that the bottom note but not the top note is, and [] means that both the top and bottom notes are included.

(S) - A turn
(SI) - An inverted turn
'X-Y'+Z - An appoggiatura. X represents the grace note pitch, Y represents the value of the grace note and Z represents the actual note.
